I play several different types of games in my medical terminology course. I know several teacher want to make medical terminology more engaging and I hope to do just that. I would like to show attendees several of the different games I play with my classes including: Spinny Wheel, Flipping Review, On a Roll, and Spoons. I have a high pass rate on my medical terminology final, so I know these games are effective and would love to share them with other instructors around the state.
Are you looking for an easy way to teach Allied Health? The Depco Health Care Units are a great way for your students to do an independent study with hands on experience. You can also incorporate HOSA competitive events to extend the length of the class. It could also lead to job shadowing opportunities.
Medical terminology is a foundational skill for all health science learners, yet many students struggle with the volume, complexity, and abstract nature of medical language. This session equips educators with a toolkit of evidence-based instructional strategies that make medical terminology accessible, memorable, and engaging. Participants will explore practical techniques that support diverse learners, strengthen vocabulary retention, and foster deeper comprehensionwhile reducing cognitive overload.Through interactive demonstrations, collaborative discussions, and ready-to-use classroom examples, attendees will learn how to scaffold instruction, integrate real-world applications, and leverage technology to enhance understanding. This session emphasizes strategies that promote active learning, including morphological analysis, visual mapping, chunking, gamification, and contextualized case-based learning. Educators will leave with adaptable resources and renewed confidence in teaching complex terminology effectively.
A session focused on how to effectively lay out Sports Medicine coursework, align content with certification expectations, and prepare students to successfully pass the AMCA exam, Physical Therapy Technician Certification.
